NJCAA National Tournament D-I

A very good Saturday morning to you and yours, I am still up in Council Bluffs Iowa at the NJCAA Division I Championship Tournament, where the Missouri State University West Plains Grizzly's are surprising everyone with there playing at this National Tournament. I can say there have been several times where I have been nervous and last night match, was just intense, the girls coming from being down a set and several points to win against Western Nebraska. So the championship slots have been filled for tonight's game. It will be Missouri State University-West Plains taking on The College of Southern Idaho. Looking at some of the history of these teams, CIS is a strong team and last won the championship in West Plains back in 2005 where the Grizzly's finished third. These two teams have not met this season, and it will be a awesome finals match, CSI was seeded 4th knocking out 13th seed Seminole state in the first round, 5th seed Miami Dade in round two and then number 1 seed Salt Lake to "punch there ticket to the finals"

West Plains trip to the finals started with the Grizzly's earning the 6th seed in the tournament lining them up to play a strong 11th seed Northwest, next the Grizzly's took out the tournament host team 3rd seed Iowa Western CC, this moved them to take on the defense power house 2nd seed Western Nebraska. After 5 sets the Grizzly's came from behind to seal a spot in the finals, this is the first time since 2003 The Grizzly's have won a finals birth.

Tonight at 6:30 the NJCAA D-1 Championship is on the line, CSI is going for there record 9th Title, while the Grizzly's aim at winning there first.

*Fun Fact
Iowa Western the host team for this tournament won the NJCAA D-1 title the last year the tournament was in West Plains, and now Missouri State University-West Plains is scheduled to host the National Tournament for the next three years, it would be nice to the Grizzly's bring the title home, before hosting the tournament next year.
