Back From Vacation

So I'm officially back from vacation as of yesterday, and it was great. Four days of catching up on my DVR, which I upgraded to HD-DVR, but it has already died, spent about 30 minutes with tech support, running through the troubleshooting(which I had done once) and should have my new receiver tomorrow.

Spent two hours Saturday at the Civic Center, at The Battery Station booth, they are doing a great Christmas Collection program, for members of the local National Guard that are currently deployed they send the first series of packages off tomorrow, so if you want to help with that drop off some items at The Battery Station, or the radio station.

My new Show schedule kicks off today, where I'll now be live from 2:00pm to 8:00pm Monday through Friday. So we will be relaunching a portion of the old Hot Country Nights show from 6 to 8 before turning it back over to Lia.

Other then those items, really looking forward to seeing Avatar at The Glass Sword, with there new 3D setup, and work is busy, productive, and a little crazy, which is just about how I like it.
Have a great week everyone!

NJCAA National Tournament D-I

A very good Saturday morning to you and yours, I am still up in Council Bluffs Iowa at the NJCAA Division I Championship Tournament, where the Missouri State University West Plains Grizzly's are surprising everyone with there playing at this National Tournament. I can say there have been several times where I have been nervous and last night match, was just intense, the girls coming from being down a set and several points to win against Western Nebraska. So the championship slots have been filled for tonight's game. It will be Missouri State University-West Plains taking on The College of Southern Idaho. Looking at some of the history of these teams, CIS is a strong team and last won the championship in West Plains back in 2005 where the Grizzly's finished third. These two teams have not met this season, and it will be a awesome finals match, CSI was seeded 4th knocking out 13th seed Seminole state in the first round, 5th seed Miami Dade in round two and then number 1 seed Salt Lake to "punch there ticket to the finals"

West Plains trip to the finals started with the Grizzly's earning the 6th seed in the tournament lining them up to play a strong 11th seed Northwest, next the Grizzly's took out the tournament host team 3rd seed Iowa Western CC, this moved them to take on the defense power house 2nd seed Western Nebraska. After 5 sets the Grizzly's came from behind to seal a spot in the finals, this is the first time since 2003 The Grizzly's have won a finals birth.

Tonight at 6:30 the NJCAA D-1 Championship is on the line, CSI is going for there record 9th Title, while the Grizzly's aim at winning there first.

*Fun Fact
Iowa Western the host team for this tournament won the NJCAA D-1 title the last year the tournament was in West Plains, and now Missouri State University-West Plains is scheduled to host the National Tournament for the next three years, it would be nice to the Grizzly's bring the title home, before hosting the tournament next year.

Upcoming Stuff

So it's finally here, The Jason Aldean Concert, going to be a fun time tonight, with Love and Theft opening up.

Last night was a lot of fun went out with a group of friends to Mixers Ultra Lounge, to see there first Comedy night, both Matt Brown, and The Fryman were hilarious, you can see The Fryman's shtick on his Myspace page if you Google "Comedian Fryman", Joe over at Mixers is planning on making this a regular event the first Wednesday of the month.

Other upcoming events Justin Moore is coming to Club Detox on December 19th tickets will be going on sale soon for that event, and with a venue like Detox there really isn't a bad seat in the house, plus during the concert it will be smoke free, with smoking area's available. How many places can you go and enjoy a number 1 country artist in such a private venue?

Other then that with all the Jason Aldean related contests wrapped up, we are starting to gear up for new contests in the coming months, an old favorite the KDY 12 day's of Christmas is coming up, plus some other things.

To my friend and brother, who was truly a good man

Ryan "Roberts" Bender was one of a kind, not just a boss, but a friend and brother, who helped me out countless times over the years, from helping me to get to the station when I was iced in, to bringing me back to West Plains in 2005 by hiring me back to the network, and pushing me to be a better DJ. He was a safety net, and a great person to bounce idea's off of, when it came to a show, casual banter, or building a contest.

Ryan was supportive, in all of our goals, even those outside the network. Quick with a joke, and a safety net for me, it's not going to be the same.

Today though we mourn no more, now we celebrate his life.

The Start Of Something New

Well welcome to my Blogger page.

I'll be using this soapbox to rant about things that are on my mind, what I'm currently into, and what adventures I'll be taking part in the future, as well as to keep track on progress on The KDY Biggest Loser bet that was recently issued.

I'll be posting pictures or link to pictures from old adventures that I've been on through out the years, and upcoming events that I will be taking part in.

That's it for now.
